Nery Castillo

Mexico's Chivas say they are hiring striker Nery Castillo as backup for the Copa Sudamericana and the end of the Apertura Mexican soccer season.
Castillo has been practicing with Chivas since he was summoned last week to play for Mexico's national team. He had been benched for months by Manchester City and needed to get back in shape.
Nestor de la Torre, Guadalajara's vice president, said the Manchester City player will be on the field as soon as his paperwork is finalized.

Castillo is in Phoenix with the Mexican national team for a friendly with Ecuador and will miss Chivas's game against Internacional de Porto Alegre on Wednesday in a Copa Sudamericana semifinal.
